ACSM (Adobe Content Server Message) files are not actual eBook files but rather files used by Adobe Digital Editions to manage and download eBooks protected by Adobe’s DRM (Digital Rights Management). When you purchase an eBook from a retailer like Adobe or certain other online bookstores, you typically receive an ACSM file, which is used to download the actual eBook file, often in the EPUB format.
Converting ACSM to EPUB or PDF involves the following reasons:
- Accessing the eBook: ACSM files are not readable by eBook readers or other applications directly. They are just download links that point to the actual eBook file. By converting ACSM to EPUB, you can access the eBook content in a format that is compatible with various eReaders and reading applications.

How to Convert ACSM to EPUB/PDF removing DRM?
Step 1: The first thing to do is Download and install Adobe Digital Editions.
This program is available for both Windows and Mac. Select and download the version based on your computer’s operating system.
Step 2: Register for an Adobe account (if you don’t have one) and authorize your copy of Adobe Digital Editions by entering your ADOBE ID. To do this you need to go to the “Help” menu –> “Authorize Computer”.
Step 3: Open the .acsm file in Digitale Editions and download the eBook.
Double-click the .ascm file and it will open via Adobe Digital Editions by default. Then a window will also open showing the download of the ebook (you must be connected to the internet).
If the .ACSM file does not open by default via ADE then right click and select “Open with” -> “Adobe Digital Editions 4.0 “.
After downloading the file you will find your ebook no longer in ACSM format but in EPUB format. The folder where this EPUB file is saved is usually this:
On Windows: Documents\My Digital Editions\
On Mac: Users/[Your computer name]/Digital Editions …
After downloading the ebook, you can delete the .acsm file or return to downloading the ebook file.
The problem with ebooks downloaded from ACSM files is that they can only be read on Adobe devices such as SonyeReader, Android Devices (BlueFire app) etc, and not on Apple devices (iPad, iPod, iPhone with ibooks), Amazon Kindle etc, for this reason the need arises to remove DRM protection

Launch the software and import the EPUB file from which you want to remove DRM protection into it.
